Power of attorney
A legal instrument granting someone authority to act for you.

Where a consumer has given an agent a power of attorney under the relevant probate code, some of the CCPA's separate agent-verification requirements do not apply. It is a stronger instrument than a simple authorisation.
Why it matters to you
If you are trying to act for an ageing parent, this is usually the route that actually works. Without it, a legitimate service cannot and should not act on your say-so.
